We believe that in the last 70 years, North America has become affluent enough to leave most of our cheese making up to the large corporate companies. In that time, North American family’s have virtually lost the art of cheese making in their own home. The big companies have quietly let you believe that the secrets of cheese making were too complex and tedious for the average person. Instead, they mass produce, and some with chemical ingredients to preserve it enough so that you can buy it in local grocery stores.
It was common in the 19th century that almost every family made their own butter and cheese right at home from their own family cow, goat or sheep. Not every technological advancement is necessarily for the best, once you have made your own cheese, you will wonder what else you are missing. The art and skill of cheese making is not so cumbersome as you might think, we at Cheese Needs will help you discover and enjoy cheese making right in your own kitchen.

We have set up this web page specifically to cater to the BEGINNER, allowing them to make delicious cheese without needing to commit to large purchases and inventory. When ready for more we have that too! We truly believe you will want to continue making your own cheese! You will be so excited about your endeavors that you will be eagerly wanting to try more recipes and other cheeses. We want you to feel confident in your cheese making so you can spread this art to your friends and family. I have been making cheese and butter since I was a child and my love for teaching cheese making is obvious to everyone. I often hear my passion shines through in my classes. I have helped thousands of people become passionate cheese makers and its my goal to help thousands more.
I trained with Jean Mansfield in New Zealand in 2016 and with this added knowledge I am even more confident that I can successfully provide my cheesy followers with everything they need to make their cheese making experience enjoyable and tasty.

How our Face book page was created
After discovering how to make Hard cheeses
(I grew up making soft cheese) I decided it was a skill I wanted to share with my friends and family.
Rennet cheeses are so different from the typical
*vinegar makes a curd* type cheese we had at our dinner table.
I shared my new skill and showed almost every family member that would let me lol and then I moved onto my friends.
When I started to realize that my family and my friends were as amazed at the cheese making process as I was, a door began to open for me and one that I could never would have imagined.
My friends encouraged me to start to teach people who wanted to know about cheese making. I wasn't sure if there would be many people and so my journey began when I posted a simple question on a local buy sell everything page on face book.
"Does anyone want to learn how to make cheese?"
A simple question I thought.
The response was huge and the admin from that buy and sell everything page contacted me and suggested I start my own group. So I did.
LEARN TO MAKE CHEESE was born.
A face book page fun and friendly. A place to learn that is inviting and wants to see YOUR cheese. When you are ready to dive in we are there to help or have fun with.
It's helpful to have some cheese friends and our page is completely free.
